When to use it
You send it after: after a purchase, a course, a support call. Timing is the thing that changes everything — feedback asked a week later collects half the answers of feedback asked the same day.
Three things that help
- Put the scale first: it's the question people answer without thinking, and someone who has answered one question tends to finish.
- Keep the open comment optional. Forcing it doesn't produce better comments, it produces fewer responses.
- Email last and optional: asking up front makes the whole thing feel like a lead form.
