When to use it
Before launch, when collecting only the email is a waste: the same people who leave an address will happily answer two more questions, and those two questions decide who you write to first.
Three things that help
- «How badly do you need it now» on a scale is the simplest way to sort the list: start with the fives.
- Keep «what would you like to be able to do» free text: it's the best source of real words for the launch page.
- Send a receipt with something in it (a date, a preview): an empty confirmation makes people forget they signed up within a day.
